300
Movie review, movie trailer and interview.
Theatrical Release Date: March 9, 2007
Starring: Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West. Directed by Zack Snyder. A Warner Bros. release.
Action and adventure, War, Drama. Rating: R. Running time: 117 minutes.
Sparta king Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 of his fiercest combatants fight to the death against Xerxes and his huge Persian army in this film based on Frank Miller’s retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae.
This is a very well made movie. It’s full of action, has plenty of unexpected scenes and is always entertaining. However, it tends to glamorize war and has some unrealistic fight scenes reminiscent of the old westerns, where one cowboy could defeat 100 Indians.
Grade: B+
