Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) is an aging engineer who shoots his younger wife shortly after seeing her in the arms of another man. When he is found not guilty of the attempted murder, the district attorney (Ryan Gosling) who prosecuted him becomes a crusader for justice.
This is an intelligent legal thriller with lots of surprises. It’s also a movie about revenge which turns into a chess match between an crafty lawbreaker and an inexperienced prosecutor.
