Movie review and movie trailer.
Theatrical Release Date: April 20, 2007
Alternate Title: La Doublure. Starring: Gad Elmaleh, Alice Taglioni, Daniel Auteuil, Kristin Scott Thomas. Directed by Francis Veber. A Sony Classics release.
Comedy. Rating: PG-13. Running time: 85 minutes.
François Pignon (Gad Elmaleh) is a restaurant valet who is photographed by a paparazzo leaving the hotel at the same time as a wealthy tycoon and his beautiful mistress. In an attempt to avoid an ugly divorce, the billionaire offers to pay François a large sum of money to pretend to be Elena’s boyfriend, while at the same time convincing Elena to live with François in his cruddy apartment until the dust settles.
There are some contrived entanglements, but over all this is a funny and entertaining farce which brings many smiles and some hearty laughter.
Grade: B
